The Truth

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life!" John 3:16

When it comes down to it, happiness is the ultimate pursuit of every person. We search out this happiness in every imaginable way possible. However, we will find true happiness only when we discover why we were created.

The Bible answers this question for us. Since we were created by God, we were created for Him. “God, who made the world and everything in it…He gives to all life, breath, and all things…so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us” (Acts 17:24-27). Our  purpose is to have a relationship with God, the Creator of the universe. “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent” (John 17:3).

None of us deserve this relationship, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Since God is Holy (perfect in every way), each of us deserves death and eternal separation from God. “For the wages of sin is death…” (Romans 6:23a). That's bad news, but God didn't let it end there –“but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23b). God loved us so much that He sent Jesus Christ, His only Son, to die in our place, taking the penalty of our sin! “…Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and He was buried, and He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)

To receive this eternal life, we must repent, turning away from our sin and turning to Christ, trusting in His payment for our sin on the cross. “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved” (Acts 16:29). “For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved!” (Romans 10:13)
