Why Wilderness Ministry?

We all hear the reports in the news: kids watch too much TV, play too many video games, spend too little time out of doors. The result is that money, sex, status and pleasure have become the gods of our culture. Youth are becoming more and more apathetic towards the Word of God and the importance of true, Biblical fellowship. Wilderness ministry is more important today than ever.

Some of the benefits of wilderness ministry are:

It provides a focused look at God’s character as He is revealed through His creation (Romans 1:20) and through His Word, free from life’s constant distractions.
The challenging nature brings about many teachable moments where God’s Word becomes real and applicable to our lives.
Life-changing ministry takes place in the context of relationships. Deep relationships are developed in the Wilderness.

Your students will love learning to cook on a backpacking stove, navigating with a map and compass, and stepping out in leadership. You’ll love the opportunity to build relationships with your group and your guides as you spend six days together in a place of amazing beauty. Base Camps:

These multi-adventure camps are available for groups of 10-50 youth. They are designed to become a catalyst, “priming” the group for the next level in leadership, spiritual disciplines, community, and response to various life challenges. Each day students are challenged through a different adventure activity that will require dependence on God and each other. -- More Info --

Facilities & Lodging:

Wilderness campers sleep at the Outpost, a beautiful outdoor site with permanent “Weatherports” (tent-like structures equipped with bunk beds) and modern bathhouse facilities. On our backcountry trips, we provide quality tents made by high-end manufacturers.

Meals:

Meals are cooked outdoors and served fresh each morning and evening. Excellent lunches are prepared on the activity. Students may assist in meal preparation, learning outdoor cooking skills as they’re guided by our staff.

Equipment:

Redcloud provides high-quality outdoor equipment such as backpacks, climbing harnesses and helmets for all of our activities. You and your students will only need to bring your Bible, a camera, and clothes for the week.

*To facilitate the best experience and to be good stewards of our environment, group sizes over 15-20 may be split into smaller backcountry or activity groups.
